Today we bring you a 2018 performance by the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra of Richard Strauss's Ein Heldenleben.
n his pre-concert talk, Maestro Zander explains that Strauss "realized that any experience...could create a universal message by being transformed through the process of art," and that "creativity and virtuosity are the best weapons in the battle of life." He describes the message of this piece: "If you have a warm, true heart...and you wed it together with noble ideals...and share it with another person, you've got the highest, most heroic path for human beings." Enjoy!
We also invite you to join us for a livestream performance from Maestro Zander's driveway this Sunday, August 8 at 4:00 PM. The program will feature three musicians of international renown (Phoebe Carai, cello, Cynthia Roberts, violin, and Peter Sykes, harpsichord) performing duos and trios from the Baroque Era. The concert will be broadcast live on Mr. Zander's Facebook page.
We send our warmest wishes to you and your loved ones. Happy listening!
