We are happy to report that Maestro Zander is back home. His legs continue to heal, and he is enjoying the beautiful winter views of his garden. He appreciates everyone's well wishes and sends his warmest greetings back to all of you.

This week we bring you a 20-minute video of Maestro Zander discussing rubato in Mahler. This video was prepared at the request of the Mahler Society, and incorporates examples from performances of Mahler Symphonies by both the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (BPYO). As Maestro Zander explains, both orchestras "feel at home in Mahler's style and they speak it like a language without an accent."

We also bring you a 2017 performance of Arutiunian's Trumpet Concerto by Elmer Churampi with the BPYO. This 15-minute concerto was one of the works performed at the pre-tour send-off concert before the orchestra embarked on a concert tour to Peru (where Elmer grew up!), Argentina, and Uruguay.
