Update: Tonight's Concert

Written by BPO Staff | Apr 19, 2013 6:15:00 PM

2:15 UPDATE:

Dear Beethoven 9 Ticket Holders:

In light of the ongoing shelter-in-place order for parts of the Greater Boston area, and the suspension for the remainder of the day of all MBTA service, we are regretfully postponing the performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, scheduled for this evening, to October 4, 2013.

Ticket holders for tonight's performance will have the option of attending the October 4 Beethoven 9 performance or another performance of the Boston Philharmonic in the 2013-14 season, dates and repertoire to be announced later this month. We will contact you with further details in the coming weeks.

With the rest of Boston, we hope for a speedy resolution to the current security concerns, and we look forward to once again sharing music with you in the near future!

Dear Beethoven 9 Ticket Holders:

We are working from home today, monitoring the situation in Watertown and surrounding communities along with everyone else in the Boston area.

At this point, we plan to go forward with the concert this evening. We will make a final decision as soon as we feel confident doing so, at the latest by 4:00 pm this afternoon. The decision will be made with the safety of our audience and orchestra as our primary consideration, in consultation with Symphony Hall and local authorities.

We will send another email to this list when a final decision has been reached. We will also update our website and Facebook page.

We look forward to a resolution of this situation, and hope that we will be able to join you in Symphony Hall this evening for Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
