This Week's Musical Gems: Brahms & Bach

Written by BPO Staff | Oct 16, 2020 9:36:49 PM

Exactly a year ago this weekend we were opening the 41st Boston Philharmonic Orchestra season with a memorable performance of Brahms's Second Piano Concerto, featuring pianist Alessandro Deljavan.

Today we bring you a recording of the eight-minute Allegro appassionato movement from that performance.

We also bring you a video of Maestro Zander coaching an ensemble from the Oakville Suzuki Association on Bach's Gavotte in G Minor. Maestro Zander observes, "Some of you have not quite understood that playing the violin and dancing are the same thing...Human beings were born to sing and dance." We encourage you to sing and dance along at home as you watch this video!

We also share with you a delightful article about Maestro Zander's driveway concerts from the Harvard Crimson
